Guangzhou Zoo

On Tuesday, we went to the Guangzhou Zoo. It was really quite impressive. They had so many animals. Lions, Tigers, Bears (Brown/Black & Panda) Giraffes, camels, hippos, rhinos, and others. The habitats were not all the most natural we have seen, but several of the habitats were natural. The most unusual thing about the zoo is that the lions had been moved to a different habitat to make room for the Tigers. The Chinese take the zodiac symbols very seriously and this coming Chinese New Year (Beginning 2/14) will be the “Year of the Tiger” so the Tigers needed a more prominent place at the zoo. They also had a small “show” that included some dancing, and a little fire breathing, which is always cool, when it’s not your children attempting it….Glad the boys missed that one.
